| FTP (File Transport Protocol) is the simplest way
to exchange files over the Internet. An FTP address looks like a
Web address except it uses the prefix ftp:// instead of http://
(for example, ftp://ftp.harperhouse.com).
To make an FTP connection you can use standard Web browser (Internet
Explorer, Netscape, Safari, etc.) or a dedicated FTP software program,
referred to as an FTP Client. FTP client software is available from
software companies such as Fetch, Transmit, CuteFTP and others.
Harper House recommends using an FTP Client. The instructions below
are for file transfer with Fetch. With FTP, users can transfer (upload
and download) files between the server and the user's hard disk.

1. Launch Fetch. In the Host field, enter ftp.harperhouse.com.
In the User ID field, enter your personal user ID. In the Password
field, enter your password. If you don’t have a personal ID
and password, contact an Account Coordinator at 214.744.4646.
2. A screen will appear, revealing your personal account folder.
Double-click the folder, and you will be taken to another screen,
revealing two folders: “from_harper” and “to_harper”.
3. To transmit files to Harper House, select the “to_harper”
folder and click on the “Put Files...” button.
4. Use the Put Files dialog box to find the file you wish to transmit.
Once you select the file and click the Okay button, another Put
File window appears, allowing you to rename the file if you wish.
Click the Okay button, and your file will be transmitted.
To retrieve files from Harper House, select the “from_harper”
folder and use the “Get” button. |
